Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between calculation skills and mathematical problem-solving abilities among eighth-grade students on the topic of linear equations in two variables (SPLDV) at SMP Negeri 1 Duhiadaa. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational approach. A sample of 41 students was selected using random sampling techniques. The research instrument consisted of two essay-based tests: calculation skills and mathematical problem-solving. The analysis results showed a significant positive relationship between calculation skills and problem-solving abilities. These findings highlight the importance of basic arithmetic skills in supporting students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.
