Improving Vocabulary Through Duolingo Application
Abstract
This study aims to investigate whether the application of the Duolingo Application can improve students' English vocabulary achievement in seventh grade junior high school. This research was conducted in one class and applied a pre-experimental design, namely one group pretest and posttest. The researcher found that Duolingo application can be used in teaching English vocabulary. The results showed that the average score of students increased from 65.70 to 80.85. The hypothesis was analyzed at a significance level of 0.05, and the results showed that t value of 12.231 and sig.2-tailed 0.000. It means that the hypothesis was accepted and Duolingo Application can be used to improve students' achievement in vocabulary. The researcher suggests English teachers to use the Duolingo Application as a media in teaching English vocabulary because it can make students more interested in teaching and learning activities.
