Abstract

Analysis of language errors in students' narrative essays in the 2017-2018academic year. This study aims to describe the forms of language errors atthe morphological level, language errors at the syntactic level, and spellingerrors. Data collection was conducted using observation, assignmentmethods, and documentation methods. The collected data were analyzedusing qualitative descriptive methods and presented using informalmethods. Based on the results of the data analysis, language errors at themorphological level were found, namely the omission of affixes. Languageerrors at the syntactic level included: (a) errors in phrases and (b) errors insentences. In addition, spelling errors were found in the use of capital letters,namely the incorrect use of capital letters in place names, the use of capitalletters after commas and periods, and the use of capital letters in the middleand end of sentences. Word spelling errors included: misspelling of affixedwords, rephrases, prepositions, particles /-pun/, numbers, and figures.Punctuation errors included: the incorrect use of the period (.), the comma(,), and the hyphen (-).
