The results indicate that Indonesian language learningplays a strategic role in enhancing students’ intellectual competence and academic success.However, the widespread use of slang, influenced by social media, peer environments, andtechnological advancements, has both positive and negative impacts. While it fosters creativityand social interaction, it may also reduce students’ ability to use standard Indonesian in formalacademic contexts. The study highlights the importance of students’ awareness indistinguishing between formal and informal language use. Therefore, innovative and contextualteaching strategies are needed to ensure that Indonesian language learning remains relevantand effective in supporting students’ academic and professional development in the modernera.
