Abstract

News text is a type of journalistic writing that is useful for conveying actual information and facts
to readers. This research was conducted to analyze the linguistic structures and rules used in
national cultural news texts published on the Tempo online news site from March 2022 to February
2023. The research method used was text analysis with a qualitative descriptive approach. This
research can provide insight into the language rules used in writing news texts and is useful for
writers and readers to understand how to write news effectively and increase news credibility. The
results of the research show that the structure and linguistic rules in the text of national cultural
news on the Tempo online media are in accordance with existing regulations. There are four main
parts in the news structure, namely the title, lead, news body, and end of the news. The language
rules used include the use of standard language, direct sentences, time conjunctions, temporal
conjunctions, and time adverbs.
