Abstract

Indonesian is a crucial pillar in uniting the diverse cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds of Indonesia’s people. This study aims to analyze the historical, social, and strategic roles of Indonesian as a national identity while exploring the challenges it faces in maintaining its prominence amidst globalization. Utilizing a qualitative literature review approach, this research delves into various sources on the development, functions, and challenges of the Indonesian language. The findings reveal that Indonesian remains a strong symbol of unity but requires revitalization to adapt to modernization pressures. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of cross-sector collaboration in preserving the Indonesian language as a national identity.
