Pengaruh Bahasa Gaul Terhadap Penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia di Kalangan Gen Z
Abstract
Slang or everyday language used by teenagers, especially Gen Z, has experienced significant development in recent years. The term "slang" refers to an informal form of language that is often influenced by popular culture, social media, and digital communications. Generation Z, who were generally born between 1997 and 2012, is known as a generation that is very familiar with digital technology, social media and various online communication applications. For example, the use of words such as "baper" (bring feelings), "gengges" (annoying), or "cewek" (female) replaces formal vocabulary in Indonesian. A survey by the Indonesian Linguistic Society (2021) shows that around 78% of teenagers aged between 16 and 24 years (Gen Z group) use slang in daily conversations. Conclusion Overall, the influence of slang on the use of Indonesian among Gen Z shows a major change in the way they communicate. Slang has become a means of expressing social and cultural identity that reflects creativity, freedom, and connectedness to global culture.
