Error Analysis: A Study Of Grammatical Errors On Students’ Writing
Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan tata bahasa pada proposal mahasiswa .
Dengan menganalisis kesalahan tata bahasa yang ada pada proposal mahasiswa, banyak pihak yang
terbantu. Hal ini juga memberikan peran penting dalam memberikan umpan balik bagi dosen dan
peneliti untuk mengevaluasi dan mengembangkan materi dalam proses belajar mengajar. Penelitian ini
menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Dalam menganalisis data, penelitian ini menggunakan teori
Surface Strategy Taxonomy. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peneliti menemukan 144 kesalahan
frase/kalimat dari empat kategori kesalahan pada proposal penelitian mahasiswa, pada kategori
omission terdapat 41 kesalahan, pada kategori addition terdapat 22 kesalahan, pada kategori
misformation terdapat 45 kesalahan, dan pada kategori misordering terdapat 36 kesalahan.

Abstract
This study aims to identify grammatical errors in student proposals. By analyzing the grammatical errors
in student proposals, many parties are helped. It also plays an important role in providing feedback to
lecturers and researchers to evaluate and develop material in the teaching and learning process. This
study used descriptive qualitative method. In analyzing the data, this study uses the Surface Strategy
Taxonomy theory. Based on the research results, the researcher found 144 phrase/sentence errors from
the four categories of errors in student research proposals, in the omission category there were 41 errors,
in the addition category there were 22 errors, in the misformation category there were 45 errors, and in
the misordering category there were 36 errors.
